Loved the game. but they did stay while you were traveling. only the Target offered version has two problems the tiles are blue and green (in certain light you can't tell) and my colorblind dad can't play at all. Also the pieces were so hard to get in and out we had to use a minature screw driver to pry pieces out. The version sold on amazon looks different. We enjoy playing both the travel and larger edition and I have played with a 5 year old who loves this game.
My family loves this game. Educational and fun is my favorite combination and it's even reasonably priced. We haven't had any trouble keeping up with the pieces either.
We even bought the 4 player version so we could all play because we loved this 2 player Travel version so much. This is amazing because my son has ADHD and normally gets bored with things quickly. I bought it for my 5 yr old and I to play, but my husband and I enjoy it just as much.
There are 21 of each color so we simply count them before we put it away. The game doesn't take long to play and we've owned it a few weeks and it's been played every night since we bought it. You can try out both versions for free on the website - Blokus dot com.My son has won against me and it's really helped his spatial reasoning abilities. He also has fun playing against himself and putting patterns together on the board or playing with it likes it's a freeform puzzle.
He will sit and play with this game with or without another person for more than 1/2 an hour and he normally wants someone entertaining him at all times.I highly recommend this game - it helps build attention span, spatial awareness, planning ahead, and is a great alternative to TV or video games. I highly recommend this product and am buying it for holiday gifts this year.
Having begun with the 4 player model, we like the original colors better, find original ahead of this in every way--more options to moves, more ability to use all the pieces. The new game needs more refining as, we think it is impossible for either player to use all pieces.Avoiding loss of pieces is a challenge for them both but we can manage that.
My son (12 years old) and I love this game. It looked interesting to me and we took a gamble and purchased it.Though it looks very simple, I was surprised to find out how difficult it is and how strategic you need to be to try and use all of the pieces, or at least more than your oponent. My son has caught on very quickly and I now see him thinking more about his moves and planning his strategy. I think it is similar to chess because your moves can be blocked and you need to think ahead to fill the entire board and not get yourself blocked in.We couldn't be happier with our purchase and we've even ordered the Blokus Trigon so we can bring over to our friends house and play with more people.I highly recommend this game.
While the co. You can play a game in 30-45 min and have fun. touts this as the "travel" version of Blokus, it serves great as a 2-person version. While you can play the full size version by playing 2 colors each, this (the 2-person version) is not as confusing. The larger version will take over an hour. Great game.
